Nanoscale oxide systems ranging from ultrathin films to two-dimensional layers and oxide nanoparticles (nanorods) are ubiquitous in fundamental condensed matter research and a plethora of possible applications in cutting edge technologies are emerging. Nanoscale oxides differ from their respective bulk materials due to an increased surface-to-volume ratio, due to proximity effects and due to their nanoscale spatial confinement, which all conspire to create novel physical and chemical properties.

The AdS/CFT correspondence and its ramifications intend to answer questions ranging from quantum gravity to condensed matter and nuclear physics. A large community of Latin American physicists, including researchers from different areas of theoretical physics, mathematics and quantum information, participates in this endeavour and many of them have made important contributions in the field. This workshop aims to bring together the Latin American and international community to promote scientific collaboration, and to contribute in the training of young researchers. There is no registration fee.

In 2018, Run II of the LHC will be well under way, and it will be important to assess what has been learned, as well as to discuss the directions in which the field might move in the near-term and medium-term future. The school will therefore be largely focused on LHC Physics, but without forgetting other areas that can give complementary information regarding the nature of the physics at the TeV scale.

The sixth chapter of the ¨San Luis Conference on Surfaces, Interfaces and Catalysis¨ will take place from June 6th to 8th in Santa Fe, Argentina. This Conference is the perfect setting for meeting and interaction between scientists from areas of surface science and interface phenomena with special emphasis in heterogeneous catalysis. We count with a long list of confirmed invited speakers, whom also will provide lectures at the “School on Surfaces, Interfaces and Catalysis” taking place before the Conference, from June 2nd to 5th. For the school, we will provide financial assistance to students, postdocs and young researchers in the form of fellowships.

The fields of Dark Matter and Neutrino Physics have experienced a tremendous growth in interest recently and face many theoretical and experimental challenges. These two fields are deeply interconnected in many aspects, including the detection techniques. Neutrinos are an unavoidable background for Dark Matter detection and upcoming experiments will soon reach the so-called neutrino floor. On the other hand, sterile neutrinos are competitive Dark Matter candidates. Neutrinos provide a fertile ground to search for particle physics beyond the Standard Model, which could include a Dark Matter particle.
